Ubisoft and Screen Juice have announced the availability of Morbid Metal in Early Access version on the Steam platform.

The title, developed by Screen Juice, is a hack-and-slash rogue-lite featuring character metamorphosis mechanics. The recommended retail price is set at 17.99 francs, with a 25% discount applied during the first week of launch, bringing the price down to 13.49 francs.

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic simulation with semi-procedurally generated levels. The combat system allows for instant switching between three different characters: Flux, who specializes in precision strikes; Ekku, who focuses on area-of-effect damage; and Vekta, who focuses on controlling the battlefield from a distance. The progression system includes permanent upgrades and optional challenges for additional rewards.
The current version of the software includes the following contents:
-
Over 10 hours of gameplay for the main campaign.
-
Three playable characters with different fighting styles.
-
Two explorable biomes: Sublime Garden and Steel Sanctuary.
-
Ten enemy archetypes with elite variants.
-
Two end-of-level bosses: Saru and Prophet.
-
Persistent progression system and training room.
-
Support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers.
-
Localization in English, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese.
The project, which began in 2015 as a university prototype by creator Felix Schade, will receive regular updates throughout its Early Access period.
