We've returned to the China of the Three Kingdoms to once again take up arms and enter battle among countless armies and legendary generals. We've got our hands on Dynasty Warriors Origins: Visions of the Four Heroes, the new DLC that expands the series' recent reboot. Before delving into the new campaigns and new features, we recommend you also take a look at our review of Dynasty Warriors: Origins edited by EllyPepper so as to have a complete picture of the evolution of the saga and better understand the context in which this expansion is set.

With Dynasty Warriors Origins: Visions of the Four Heroes, Omega Force expands the series' new direction with an expansion designed especially for those who have already advanced to the base game. The DLC doesn't just add missions, but builds a true alternative narrative path that delves deeper into four key figures from the Three Kingdoms, while also enriching the gameplay with new weapons, progression systems, and endgame content. The experience is clearly geared toward those who enjoy large-scale battles, character development, and a more nuanced understanding of historical heroes.

New Battle Strategies
One of the most exciting aspects of Visions of the Four Heroes is the expanded strategic component and character progression. With the DLC, Ziluan's level cap has been increased, allowing you to continue developing your warrior beyond the limits of the base game and making the experience even more endgame-focused. This is complemented by a new skill tree dedicated exclusively to the world of Visions: the points needed to unlock its nodes can only be earned by completing the four new campaigns and their associated challenges, thus creating a parallel and specific progression for this content. Strategic battles represent the tactical core of this expansion. Inspired in atmosphere and structure by the great battlefields of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, these sections allow not only to plan battles but also to acquire true strategic commands. These orders can then be given to your troops during real-time battles, influencing the course of the battle through coordinated maneuvers, offensive and defensive support, and targeted interventions on enemy forces, strengthening the sense of command of an army and not just a single hero.

It's important to note, however, that these strategic battles cannot be replayed by freely selecting them from the menu. Once completed, the only way to tackle them again is to start a new Visions campaign, which limits the immediate replayability of these content compared to the main story battles. The narrative missions, on the other hand, follow the philosophy of the base game and remain repeatable, offering additional rewards upon reaching specific objectives, such as higher-level weapons or rare materials, thus incentivizing the improvement of your performance and builds. The new Inn structure, which serves as a central hub, adds variety to the experience. Here, you can accept quests, interact with NPCs, trade, and train, while reaching level 102 unlocks Trials, a series of advanced challenges that expand the Visions tree and allow you to obtain new skills and amulets. The strategic component, while not as deep as a pure strategy game, adds a dimension of planning that breaks up the pace of the continuous action and reinforces the feeling of a military campaign. An important added value is the presence of Zhuhe as a true adventure companion, with whom you can fight and confront, making the experience more narrative and less solitary than the base game, in addition to the unlocking of new skins for Ziluan that complete the content package.
