The Spectrum White Edition is available, a new celebratory version of the ZX Spectrum

Retro Games Ltd and PLAION REPLAI have announced the availability of The Spectrum White Edition, a new version of the iconic home computer released to mark the 44th anniversary of the launch of the original ZX Spectrum 48k on April 23, 1982.

The device's design, featuring an all-white color, is inspired by a well-known urban legend regarding a commemorative model never officially marketed for reaching one million units sold.

The system is a full-scale recreation of the ZX Spectrum 48k and retains the signature rubber keyboard while integrating modern features for use on today's screens. Key specifications include:

  • Video output via HDMI with various display options.

  • 48 video games pre-installed in the system.

  • USB ports for connecting controllers and loading external content.

  • Software compatibility with ZX Spectrum 48k and 128k models.

The sales package includes two matching accessories: a white joystick with microswitches and a custom USB stick called THEMICRODRIVE. In conjunction with the console's launch, THEGAMEPAD (White) was unveiled, a controller with modern ergonomics, sold separately and designed for use with supported titles.

The Spectrum White Edition is available at authorized retailers for €149.99. The GAMEPAD (White) controller can be purchased separately for €24.99.
