Sony has unveiled True RGB, a new proprietary technology intended for the brand's future TV lines. The system uses independent light sources for the red, green, and blue diodes, abandoning conventional backlighting approaches.

This architecture is designed to increase color volume and maximum brightness compared to previous models in the manufacturer's home cinema range.
The technical operation of True RGB relies on a specific optical structure and a new RGB driver that manages the backlighting. The stated goal is to maintain color accuracy and contrast even with wide viewing angles.

The development of this technology integrates the experience gained by the company in the LED sector since 2004, when RGB backlighting was launched on the QUALIA 005 model, and continues the evolution of the Backlight Master Drive system introduced in 2016. The final solution combines the management of individual RGB LEDs with the characteristics of Mini LED and OLED structures to balance detail accuracy and color purity in different ambient lighting conditions.
