Sony announces new LinkBuds Clip open-back earphones

Sony has presented the new LinkBuds Clip, open-clip earbuds designed to allow audio content to be enjoyed without isolating the user from their surroundings. The device uses a C-shaped structure that does not obstruct the ear canal, promoting air circulation and reducing ear pressure during prolonged use.

The audio system integrates DSEE technology for sound upscaling, 360 Reality Audio support, and a 10-band equalizer that can be customized via the Sony Sound Connect app. For call management, the product uses a bone conduction sensor combined with an AI-based noise reduction system.

The earphones offer three selectable listening modes:

  • Standard: for balanced reproduction of musical content;

  • Voice Boost: Optimized for listening to podcasts and videos in noisy environments;

  • Sound Leakage Reduction: Designed to reduce sound leakage to the outside in quiet locations.

Technical specifications and features include:

  • Battery life: up to 37 hours total with charging case;

  • Quick Charge: 60 minutes of playback with 3 minutes of charging;

  • Resistance: IPX4 certification against rain and sweat;

  • Connectivity: Multipoint connection for switching between two devices;

  • Customization: Optional protective shell support and adjustment pads.

From an environmental perspective, the packaging is plastic-free, and approximately 20% of the plastic used in the device comes from recycled sources. The LinkBuds Clip will be available in Switzerland from February 2026 in black, cream, lavender, and green, priced at CHF 199.
