Sennheiser has announced the launch of the MOMENTUM 5 Wireless, the next evolution of its portable headphone range focused on high-fidelity and spatial audio. The new model retains the acoustic architecture of the previous generation while introducing hardware upgrades, improved noise cancelling, and repairability features.

The device integrates the 42mm transducer manufactured in Tullamore, Ireland, and supports Hi-Res Audio certification along with Snapdragon Sound technology with codecs up to aptX Lossless. Audio management is via the new Smart Control Plus app, which includes an 8-band equalizer and a sound customization system.

The next-generation active noise reduction system increases the effectiveness of attenuating surrounding conversations by up to three times thanks to the use of four microphones on each side, also dedicated to transparency mode and voice capture during calls. In terms of connectivity, the chipset supports the Bluetooth 5.4 standard at launch and will ensure compatibility with Bluetooth 6.0 via a future firmware update. An initial software update will also unlock head tracking for immersive audio in Dolby Atmos format.
The claimed battery life reaches 57 hours on a single charge with noise reduction enabled. The main structural innovation is the introduction of a 700 mAh battery that can be replaced directly by the user using a common Phillips screwdriver. The sales package is plastic-free, smaller than the 20%'s previous model, and includes a carrying case, a USB Type-C charging cable, and a 3.5 mm analog audio cable.

The MOMENTUM 5 Wireless will be available on the European market from June 30th in the Black, White and Denim colour variants, at a recommended retail price of €399.90.
