Samsung unveils new foldable Galaxy Z phones in London

At the Galaxy Unpacked event in London, in the presence of the Joypad editorial team, Samsung unveiled its new generation of foldable devices consisting of three models: Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8.

The new products introduce Flex Titanium technology, a system based on an additional titanium alloy and plate designed to increase structural strength and reduce the visibility of the crease on the screen. The three devices will be available to order in Switzerland starting July 22, 2026.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 It adopts a revised image format with a 5.5-inch 10:16 external display and a 7.6-inch 4:3 internal screen. The unit weighs 201 grams, integrates a 4,800 mAh battery, and has a main camera module consisting of two 50 MP sensors dedicated to wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle shots. The main panel reaches a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits and is equipped with Vision Booster anti-reflective technology.

The Ultra variant makes its debut in the folding category. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra It is 4.1 mm thick when unfolded, weighs 215 grams, and has an 8.0-inch main display. The specifications include the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor for Galaxy, a 5,000 mAh battery combined with a Dual-DCIC architecture with 45W fast charging, and an expanded graphite surface of the 7% for thermal dissipation. The main camera uses a 200 MP sensor with HDR support, flanked by a 50 MP ultra-wide angle, a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and the ability to record 8K videos using the APV codec.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 represents the clapperboard solution of the series, with a thickness of 6.1 mm and a weight of 180 grams. The FlexWindow cover screen is powered by AI for instant access to notifications and system shortcuts via the Now Brief screen. The device features a 50MP camera with ProVisual Engine and integrated stabilization with horizon lock for moving videos.

The entire range is equipped with the One UI 9.0 interface, which introduces a centralized platform for managing functions based on Galaxy AI and Gemini Intelligence, covering direct automation across 49 supported applications. Software features include native compatibility between Quick Share file sharing and AirDrop technology for transferring to iOS systems, as well as a Smart Switch data migration system via QR code.

For the Swiss market, the expected selling prices are CHF 1,149 for the Galaxy Z Flip8, CHF 1,729 for the Galaxy Z Fold8 and CHF 1,899 for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.
