Metro 2039 gets its first gameplay trailer, release date set for February 2027

During the Xbox Games Showcase, publisher Plaion released the first gameplay trailer of Metro 2039. The video, almost three minutes long, shows gameplay footage from the final version and introduces Hunter, the new leader who has taken control of the subway through propaganda.

The title maintains the series' classic structure, alternating stealth mechanics, tunnel exploration, and surface environments, along with survival elements. New additions include the silenced "Shatun" weapon and a new type of explosive charge. Narratively, the protagonist, known as the Fremde, will be pitted against the regime established by Hunter, a former Spartan Order ranger whose faction has now splintered.

The game is being developed by 4A Games and is currently underway in both Malta and Ukraine. Metro 2039 will be available starting in February 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
