Bungie has announced that Marathon, a PvPvE mining shooter, will be available on March 5, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, and Xbox Series X|S for €39.99. The game will support full cross-play and cross-save. Pre-orders will open on January 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM EST.
The gameplay system is centered around the Runners, bio-cybernetic colonists exploring Tau Ceti IV. Players utilize specialized Shells to survive environmental threats and encounters with rival factions. Each Shell allows for customization through cores, implants, modifications, and weapons. Confirmed archetypes include the Destroyer for combat, the Assassin for stealth operations, the Recon for intelligence, the Vandal for tactical anarchy, the Thief for resource recovery, the Triage for medical support, and the Rook for scavenging.
The launch will be accompanied by the DualSense wireless controller – Marathon Limited Edition, created in collaboration with Bungie and available from March 5th at 84.99 euros. The peripheral's design is inspired by the futuristic settings of Marathon, with an aesthetic based on fragmented shapes. The device will be sold in a limited edition on direct.playstation.com and at authorized retailers, with pre-orders starting January 29.
Several versions of the software are planned. The Deluxe Edition includes the Midnight Decay weapon and the Runner Shell cosmetic pack, while the Collector's Edition offers a Sekiguchi Genetics-inspired experience with a 1:6 scale Thief Shell statue and a mini-WEAVEworm. Pre-orders guarantee access to exclusive rewards, including cosmetic items for Destiny 2.
