Supermassive Games presented, during the Future Games Show, a new live-action trailer for Directive 8020 focused on local co-op. The narrative-driven sci-fi horror title will launch on May 12, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

In addition to the single-player experience, the game introduces a Movie Night mode, which allows up to five players to play through the story in couch co-op. Players share a single controller, taking turns commanding the crew members of the Cassiopeia starship. The group's survival depends on cooperation and collective decision-making in the face of alien threats and onboard systems failures.
Directive 8020 introduces the Wendepunkte (Turning Points) feature to The Dark Pictures series, a system that visualizes the narrative tree and allows players to revisit crucial plot points. This feature allows players to monitor the impact of their choices and, in the event of character death or negative outcomes, return to a previous decision point to explore alternative paths or replay quick-time events.
Survival mode is also available for group sessions, which disables the ability to retrace your steps, making every decision and its consequences final. Bandai Namco has also confirmed that a free update will be released post-launch to introduce five-player online multiplayer.
