Google announces new Google Home Speaker with Gemini integration

Google has announced the launch of the Google Home Speaker, the company's first audio device designed specifically to integrate the Gemini voice assistant for Home.

The device is available for pre-order and will be available on the Swiss market starting Thursday, June 25, 2026 at the recommended price of CHF 99.90 in the Hazel and Porcelain colors.

Gemini integration for Home enables natural language understanding that doesn't require rigid commands. The assistant can handle complex logical requests, multiple commands issued simultaneously, and corrections within the same sentence. The system maintains the context of the conversation to allow consecutive interactions without having to repeat the wake-up call, a feature now available in all supported languages. The device also includes ten new preset voices. A Google Home Premium subscription unlocks additional features like Gemini Live for free-flowing conversations, Camera History Search to query the assistant about activity recorded by Nest cameras, and Home Briefs to get summaries of home events that occurred while the user was away.

Hardware-wise, the speaker delivers 360-degree omnidirectional sound through a 58mm full-range driver and features three long-range microphones with ambient sound processing. Its international dimensions are 86.6mm high by 107mm in diameter, with a weight of 396 grams, including the integrated 1.5-meter cable but excluding the power adapter. The latter is a 30W Type-C USB-PD PPS charger weighing 65 grams. Internal specifications include a 2.0GHz Quad Core A55 processor with NPU, 1GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and 4GB of eMMC storage before formatting.

Connectivity includes 2.4GHz and 5GHz 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and a 2.4GHz Thread 1.3 border router. The device is Matter certified and functions as a home hub via the Google Home app, compatible with iOS and Android operating systems. The exterior design features a 3D knit fabric covering, three-zone capacitive touch controls, a bottom light ring to indicate activity, and a two-stage hardware switch to mute the microphones. The construction uses at least 37% of recycled materials by weight, and the sales packaging is completely plastic-free.
