<\/p>\nEven with a few too many clouds and a few degrees cooler, the spring air in Berlin was charged with a palpable electricity, a buzz of anticipation that only the imminent arrival of a new generation of Nintendo consoles can truly generate.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
After months, even years, of speculation, rumors, and longing from the global community, we finally had the opportunity, here at the "Nintendo Switch 2 Experience" event, to get our hands on what promises to be the next evolution of the Kyoto-based company's hybrid. We were there, ready to get our eager\u2014and playful\u2014hands on the new machine and test out some demos made available to the press and the public.<\/p>\n

<\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\nMario Kart World <\/strong>e Donkey Kong Banananza: <\/strong>On the one hand, we have one of Nintendo's strongest IPs, capable of literally moving the masses. In a move similar to the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo is targeting Mario Kart for the launch of its new console. Mario Kart World<\/em> It's not just "more of the same." In addition to the usual Grand Prix and Battle modes, we were able to try out the Free Roam and Tournament modes, which pit 24 players against each other. A sort of Kart Battle Royale, this mode proved to be a lot of fun, and during our test, we certainly encountered some difficulty reaching the top positions (though not on the second try). Mario Kart World presents itself in dazzling form, with colorful graphics, particle effects, and a fluidity that seems anchored to 60 fps and beyond, even in the most hectic situations. There are plenty of characters, the new features seem juicy, and we can't wait to get our hands on the final product. Donkey Kong Banananza<\/em>, instead, marks the long-awaited return of Nintendo's primate in a unique platform adventure. After a 25-year absence from a 3D title, Bananza won't follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Nintendo 64 title from the old Rare studio, but will instead create its own style, focused on destroying everything in its path to uncover various secrets and "rock" bananas. The polygonal models are highly detailed, the environments lush, and the dynamic lighting system is impressive. It's a shame that the frame rate isn't entirely stable at times when executing certain moves. The demo only lasted 15 minutes, and we were only able to explore the first part of the game superficially. Nevertheless, the overall impression is very good.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The Legend of Zelda (BotW & TotK) \u2013 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: <\/strong>Revisiting Breath of the Wild \/ Tears of a Kingdom's Hyrule on Nintendo Switch 2 was, in itself, strange. Both Breath of the Wild<\/em> That Tears of the Kingdom<\/em> benefit greatly from the improved hardware. Indeed, the compromises of the original version are definitely a thing of the past: the higher resolution, sharper textures, and, above all, a framerate that seemed rock-solid at 60fps even in the most complex areas like the Kabarico Village, the Kokiri Forest, or during intense combat with particle effects. Loading times have also been drastically reduced, such as when traveling from one shrine to another or during the initial loading screens.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Metroid Prime 4: <\/strong>Among the most anticipated cross-gen titles at the event, Metroid Prime 4 couldn't be missed. The demo was very short and set in the early stages of the game. The dark, alien atmosphere that distinguishes the series is palpable from the very first moments, made even more immersive by top-notch lighting effects, reflections, and environmental textures. Samus moves fluidly, and the combat system seems responsive. What amazed us was the mouse mode, which works very well. In fact, it seemed like the game was processing up to 120 fps, aim and aiming precision were very good, and it actually felt like playing on a PC. Of course, the Joy-Cons are what they are and will never be as comfortable as a mouse. However, if you're willing to forgo the grip of a traditional mouse, the Joy-Cons are also very usable in this specific mode.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/p>\n Bravely Default HD Remastered: <\/strong>A welcome return for lovers of classic JRPGs. Bravely Default HD Remastered<\/em> It features the same artistic style that made it famous, but now enhanced with impeccable image clarity and redesigned high-definition character models and backgrounds. The gameplay remains faithful to the original, with some Quality of Life (QoL) improvements and a new minigame. The experience on Nintendo Switch 2 is even more seamless thanks to reduced loading times and perfect readability even in portable mode. It will be interesting to see other remasters reworked for the Nintendo 3DS, which has several gems to revive.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition & Hogwarts Legacy: <\/strong>For these titles, the Nintendo Switch 2 plays a crucial role: is Nintendo's new console capable of handling modern and technically demanding third-party titles? We had no doubts about Hogwarts Legacy, as it was ported to the original Nintendo Switch. However, for Cyberpunk 2077, the results were, marginally, surprising. Both Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition<\/em> It ran smoothly and with satisfying visual quality, even though it was locked at 30 fps, without any quality or frame drops along the way. It's not at the level of Doom Eternal or Doom on Nintendo Switch, which, while running smoothly, had a very noticeable blurriness. Here, the game runs flawlessly, and in a version that's clearly not the final one. If the title already performs like this with this demo\/build, if DLSS and further optimizations were to be implemented, we think CD Projekt's title could truly shine on the Kyoto-based company's portable. Granted, it's not at the level of consoles like the PlayStation 5 or mid-\/high-end PC, but the playability was solid and the visual impact was remarkable for a low-wattage hybrid console. This is a very important sign for future support from external developers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.joypad.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/PXL_20250425_090557108-1024x771.jpg\")
