<\/a><\/p>\nMoonshot Games, the team behind Wildgate, is still a very young company. The studio was founded\u2014like publisher Dreamhaven\u2014about five years ago and currently employs around 50 people. The team is made up of experienced game developers who have worked at Blizzard (Starcraft and Hearthstone) and Take-Two (Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2), among others. This means that, even though Wildgate is Moonshot's debut game, there is considerable experience and expertise behind it. At the beginning of development, the team initially created 30 short pitches for game ideas, which were then narrowed down to a few key points, ultimately reflecting the studio's values. These include, for example, a positive approach, not only to game development itself, but also to working with the community. The philosophy is also based on offering new and unusual content to awaken the inner child in as many people as possible.<\/p>\n
The backdrop to this vibrant and colorful space battle is a specially created science fiction universe: here, an alliance of very different species rules the galaxy. Called The Accord, it is primarily dedicated to maintaining peace while exploring the vastness of space. At a certain point, however, The Accord encounters a previously unknown race: the First Born. This ancient faction is defined primarily by its imperialistic traits and violent conquest of other peoples and galaxies. It's no surprise that a centuries-long war erupts between The Accord and the First Born. Wildgate is set after these events. The First Born have been defeated, and the forces of the Accord continue their exploration of the galaxy. They encounter previously unknown dimensions and areas, discovering remnants of previous civilizations. The crews of the spaceships involved are called Prospectors, and their task is to recover these artifacts. And while Wildgate isn't a hero-based shooter, there are several playable characters tied to specific races, each with their own unique characteristics: The agile Mophs, for example, resemble overcooked eagles, but become invisible inside a spaceship, making them perfect for infiltration. The Sammos, resembling giant rabbits, are ideal for defending their ship, possessing a high level of health and the ability to regenerate the ship when an enemy Seeker is eliminated.<\/p>\n Wildgate combines ideas from different games: aboard your ship, there are various tasks. One player, for example, takes care of the piloting, adjusts the shields, and targets the next target. Others can man the cannons and attack other ships. If you come under fire, you can repair the damage with your multitool or even put out fires. To repair your ship, however, you need ice, which floats around the maps. To collect it, leave the ship and chip away at the ice blocks with your tool. In zero gravity, you initially move very slowly. However, you have two boosts available to move quickly. Very practical: you can return to your ship Star Trek-style via teleportation with the press of a button.
