<\/p>\nDuring our visit to the German city of Cologne this year, we were invited to the French stand to try out the demo of the game Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram from Hibernia. Therefore, we couldn't avoid telling you about this title, which will surely be appreciated by fans of the series and beyond.<\/p>\n

It is 50 BC. Gaul has been almost entirely conquered by the Romans, except for a small village of unconquered Gauls who resist the invaders. Meanwhile, in Hibernia (modern-day Ireland), Keratina, daughter of Chief Irishcoffix, calls on Asterix and Obelix for help to repel the Roman invasion and recover the golden ram greatly beloved by her father.<\/p>\n
It's an action game with platforming elements that focuses on fun and local co-op for up to 4 players. In a gaming universe often dominated by souls-like games, this title goes against the trend and seems perfect for anyone looking for carefree fun, or a way to relax with family or friends thanks to a good old-fashioned video game.<\/p>\n

The game mechanics and gameplay are actually quite simple from what we saw in the demo presented at Gamescom 2022. Despite the simplicity, it's interesting to know that through the discovery and experimentation of various combos, players can encounter some surprises in the game, a mechanic that can certainly offer great replayability. Although it's an original story, the setting and graphics remain extremely faithful to the Asterix and Obelix franchise, where we will find ourselves facing extremely chaotic brawls interspersed with some puzzle elements.<\/p>\n

In certain moments, we will indeed be forced to choose whether to use Asterix or Obelix depending on the actions we need to take to progress through the story. If we play in single player, we will have to use the correct character to complete particular tasks, such as utilizing Obelix's strength for certain actions or Asterix's agility for others.<\/p>\n
The choice to also provide a good number of weapons to imaginatively defeat the Roman army is very fitting; each weapon, however, will have a predetermined durability and will therefore be equipped with a bar thanks to which we will be able to see how much longer we can use them to knock out the formidable Roman soldiers.<\/p>\n

If in the old Asterix and Obelix arcade game it was possible to temporarily increase the character's power by drinking a magic potion or eating succulent roast boar respectively, in this title we will have the possibility to defeat a large number of enemies by charging an energy bar that will give us the ability to activate special moves. In short, the game seems promising, especially for fans of the franchise but also for a younger audience, or simply for all those who intend to play a few games to relax, both in single player and in co-op mode with up to three friends.<\/p>\n

All we can do is wait for the scheduled release date of October 13, 2022.
\nAsterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram from Hibernia will be playable on PS4, PS5, XBOX SERIES X, and Nintendo Switch. We will also be able to choose from 3 versions of the game: a Standard Edition, a Limited Edition containing the game plus stickers and some lithographs, and a Collector's Edition containing the game with a collector's box, stickers, lithographs, and an Obelix figurine.<\/p>\n
Whether you prefer the small, mustachioed warrior or the imposing, always hungry companion, roll up your sleeves, because it will soon be time to unleash some brawling!<\/p>\n
