It will arrive next March 10<\/strong> the new, incredible expansion to Assassin's Creed Valhalla<\/strong>, titled Dawn of Ragnar\u00f6k<\/strong>, and is promoted as the most ambitious expansion in the franchise's history. Suffice it to say that it promises many hours of gameplay, during which we will witness new adventures starring Eivor, this time at a truly \u201cmythical\u201d moment in her existence.<\/p>\n

We witnessed the\u2019online preview<\/strong> dedicated to this DLC, and we'll tell you what awaits us, even if the details are still quite limited, in the new adventure dedicated to the most recent title in Ubisoft's franchise.<\/p>\n

Assassin\u2019s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnar\u00f6k, in the hands of Odin<\/h2>\n

Eivor's saga is far from over. Now, in fact, we must embark on a new journey that presents the saga from the point of view of the Norse god. Odin,<\/strong> in search of his son Baldr. Norse mythology therefore continues to permeate what was already seen in the main game, but this time we will have to deal with the fantasy and surreal world of Svartalfheim.<\/strong>  Exploration and discovery will not be lacking in this DLC, also linked to the adventures of the main story, and without forgetting a good mix of three components: combat, stealth action, and exploration. We will also meet well-known and new characters, such as some members of Odin's family. A key element of the gameplay system will be Odin's ability to acquire the powers of defeated enemies<\/strong>, to expand both the game modes and the criteria we use to establish our gameplay strategy. In the preview demo, we saw some details related to these topics, including also a New weapon class<\/strong>, which allows us to combine truly spectacular combos and take our armaments to \u201cdivine\u201d upgrade levels, we dare say. This also allows us to use Odin's runes, to give us more power.<\/p>\n

The mode is not missing either Valkyrie Arena<\/strong>, where we can test the combat system, our weapons, and also get decidedly important rewards, depending on our performance. Within the footage presented, we were able to see the game director and creative director, gamepad in hand, tackling some parts of the game. The actions<\/strong> What we can accomplish are mainly those classic,<\/strong> already seen so far: high jumps or calling to our trusty horse to cross the grassy plains and search for tracks to save Odin's son, or transforming into a bird of prey to glide from high places, and then assassinate enemies from above. settings<\/strong> What we've observed in the preview ranges from meadows and landscapes steeped in Norse nature, to caves filled with crystals and populated by characters we can get directions from and converse with, all the way to dungeons and cities with a typical Nordic fantasy flavor.<\/p>\n

Dialogic sequences and graphic design<\/h2>\n

Precisely the dialogue sequences<\/strong> that we witnessed can take a few minutes, giving us both essential directions for the story and useful notions for getting to know the secondary characters. Furthermore, we were able to see up close and briefly some possible options for powering ourselves up before setting off again. Finally, some sessions of combat<\/strong> that we witnessed, allowed us to see up close what it means to be a god and acquire the powers of those who fell on the battlefield. The powers<\/strong> they are always different, allowing us to adapt our strategy to the different moments of the game, a decidedly useful option.<\/p>\n

From a point of view of engine<\/strong> graph,<\/strong> we believe that there are still some precautions<\/strong> to be made for the final version, as the details of characters and settings are not always well-defined, especially during faster combat and movement phases. The rendering of NPCs also appears somewhat rough and not entirely polished. Overall, however, this half-hour preview struck us as convincing on the one hand, but on the other too short to commit<\/strong> further into the gameplay dynamics and how engaging it will actually be. However, we hope the game will truly be \u201cdivine.\u201d.<\/p>\n
