<\/p>\nDuring E3 2019, Japanese company Konami unveiled its new title, Pro Evolution Soccer 2020. We were invited to try the demo during the show, and we delved into the gameplay of a classic mode: quick match. The title is also called eFootball PES 2020 and, like every year, it makes its debut by attempting to take the crown from its eternal rival, FIFA.<\/p>\n

In this new chapter, the title is extended by adding the term \u201ceFootball\u201d to better reflect the developers' commitment to esports and the entire world of competition that revolves around it.
\nKonami has carefully considered creating an arena dedicated exclusively to competing in its titles in the new headquarters built following their move from their current location. We're also curious to learn more about how Konami will promote its eSports titles in this new facility. We know that this year, eFootball PES 2020 boasts a new collaboration with Iniesta, which helps enhance the title's image. Also worth mentioning is the new dribbling movement called Finesse Dribling, a new movement that can be easily used by slightly moving the right analog stick while in possession of the ball and trying to break through the opposition's defenses. This will allow players to perform authentic dribbles that will help them maintain possession in the most difficult moments.<\/p>\n
The shots, which better illustrate the style of play and the touch on the ball that allows us to characterize each individual character by adopting animations that are much more similar to real ones, as well as the stops when we recover the ball, have also been improved in animations allowing the gamer to see a different type of football in each individual team and player.
\nThis new title is also innovative because it has improved a whole series of aspects that enhance the gameplay, for example, working on the physics of the ball, both directly and indirectly. There are currently two game modes: "Master League," already familiar from previous installments, which will also feature narrative dialogues. The more modern transfer market component has also been improved, promising to be more realistic with more accurate and credible managers. The second mode, called "Matchday," will feature a match each week. eFootball PES 2020 users will be able to choose a side, play the match, and wait for the result: a draw will be held among all users, who will be able to play against each other to earn exclusive in-game rewards. A certainly interesting idea. A final consideration is to be given to the details related to the very well defined characters, which gives an added value to the title especially for fans who will surely appreciate the work done by the Japanese company, in short the faces, the shirts and the stadiums in particular of the partner teams, an increasingly refined lighting system and now also a new and more complex menu, more practical and modern.<\/p>\n

Francesco and I were able to try out this new title at our leisure. The mode started quickly, we began by choosing teams; I chose France while our rival chose FC Barcelona. So, we began our hands-on, initially trying to venture into the first match. The first few minutes of play were a bit confusing with the controls, but after a moment with the pad in hand, we realized they were the classics: passing, shooting, crossing, and running, which, when combined, allowed us to score and take the lead. Right away, however, we noticed the improvement in the graphics and animations, which increasingly resembled reality. Between through-balls, shots on goal, and more, we tried to elude our opponent Francesco, who was in possession of the ball, mostly in our hands. However, in this match, we were unable to win the game. I've always found soccer games fun when played with friends, and in fact, during our hands-on, we had a blast. Furthermore, our dear Francesco, being in trouble, began mowing down every single player so as to have every member of his team receive a yellow card. The match ends when our opponent scores a sensational own goal, allowing us to take the lead. We spend the remaining minutes of our match trying to further take the lead, but it's no use. Despite everything, Francesco performs well in defense. The France-FC Barcelona match thus ends 1-0. After a few laughs, we return to seriousness and begin a second match, which is where things get interesting. We start from the center of the field and make a series of through passes with the "A" button, reaching the penalty area, but we move to the flank where, with a tactical cross, which is possible with the "B" button, we manage to pass the ball to our player who is in front of the goalkeeper. With a shot, by pressing the "X" button instead, we manage to blast the ball without too much force into the opponent's net, thus managing to score the first goal of the game, 1-0 for France. The game gets interesting, Francesco tries to counterattack immediately after but nothing happens by switching players with LB\/RB and running with the RT trigger we manage to catch Francesco's player and block him before he can enter the penalty area. The game goes on like this until I find the right spaces and score a goal, then another and another. Francesco tries to stop my barrage of goals by looking for dangerous slides where he risks getting his players red. This can be done with the B button when you don't have possession of the ball. He manages to gain possession every now and then, but with little difficulty I get it back, trying to avoid the foul. The button for this type of approach when you don't have possession of the ball and the opponent is counterattacking is the "A" button. The match ends 5-0 between a serious expression and a laugh for fun. We all had a lot of fun during the test and we were able to see several improvements to this title.<\/p>\n

PES features a unique map located at the bottom center of the screen, giving you a clearer idea of your players' positions on the pitch. This allows you to hone your strategic skills and create plays that aren't just textbook. Furthermore, the animations have been greatly improved, both for the characters, with several new dances after scoring, and for the movements themselves, which are becoming increasingly realistic. Interceptions, pass-taking, and ingenious passing will be crucial to winning matches. This title is packed with interesting new features, and fans of the genre will certainly have a lot to enjoy. We'll be waiting to try it out for ourselves once it's released to see all the new features Konami has added to this title. We've found eFootball PES 2020 to be a fun game, packed with content, and if played with friends, the day can fly by in no time.<\/p>\n
