Microsoft has presented us with the upcoming expansion for Sea of Thieves. There are essentially three new features planned: a new type of zone called Dev's Roar<\/em>, lifeboats and a new type of mission. The idea behind it all is to add new mechanics and more tactics<\/strong>, as the players had hoped.<\/p>\n

These choices are the result of fan feedback, which the developers of Rare<\/em> They just finished analyzing. Let's start with the new type of island, which presents natural hazards. In fact, the areas are dominated by active volcanoes<\/strong> which bring a wave of new mechanics and dangers. As you might imagine, the first threat is lava, which can injure the player. A volcanic eruption will not only damage the pirate, but could also hit and destroy his vessel. Furthermore, the water surrounding the island will rise in temperature, becoming too hot\u2014boiling!\u2014and dangerous for those adventurers seeking protection or simply bathing. The player can, however, seek protection within the caves scattered across the islands... only to discover that even there they are not completely safe. In fact, the cavities may contain falling rocks or geysers that will shoot the unfortunate victim upwards. The risks posed by the new game areas highlight the importance of the lifeboat, the other new feature introduced in the expansion. If you want to protect your ship, which is fragile in the face of the monstrosities present on the new islands, you will be best off dropping anchor at a safe distance and approach with the rowboat<\/strong>. Evidently, the usefulness of the lifeboat is not limited to this: since you can put everything \u2013 absolutely everything! \u2013 you like in it, whether treasures or materials, new strategies can be invented by the most imaginative players. Confirming this, the friendly game designers of Rare<\/em> They've shared anecdotes with us about ideas they've come up with during testing. We won't go into them here, but simply confirm their originality, leaving you free to be creative and take full advantage of these emerging mechanics.<\/p>\n

\nAnother new addition is the Merchant Alliance missions called Cargo Runs<\/em>. These will ask you to bring some materials<\/strong> From one game-controlled character to another, paying attention to the type of merchandise: delicate fabrics can't get wet, bottles of rum are fragile and prone to breakage, and so on, depending on what you're carrying. Any damage will affect the selling price, and you can already imagine how you could spite another player, for example by ruining their cargo in battle!
\nThe new maps will initially be offered as events, encouraging you to explore the areas, and then will remain, making the play area even larger. With this expansion, the developers hope to capture the spirit of disaster movies and make the game more challenging with new missions.
