At Gamescom 2017, we met with Logitech for the presentation of a brand-new product. Not only was we excited to discover this mysterious peripheral, but it's also a pleasure to meet a local company, and Logitech offers unique presentations, much more technical than those of other manufacturers. That's how we were lucky enough to discover Logitech's newest gem: the G603 mouse!<\/p>\n

\nThe presentation began with a simple yet fundamental observation: we live in a world increasingly connected via Wi-Fi, but in the context of gaming, it's difficult to go wireless. The problem lies in the trade-off between performance and efficiency: the more precise sensors a mouse has, the more it consumes.<\/p>\n

Although there are technological solutions for power supplies that would ensure long-term use of a mouse, they are too expensive, and integrating them would dramatically increase the price of the peripheral. Thus, until now, the manufacturing industry has always found itself faced with the dilemma of prioritizing performance or power consumption. Starting today, this choice is no longer valid: Logitech has developed a new technology that offers the best performance in the field in terms of both performance and power consumption. The new jewel that allows these results is called Hero.<\/p>\n

Roughly speaking, Hero is the sensor that analyzes the light beam generated by the LED, then reflected by the surface the mouse is moving over, and finally passed through a lens before being captured and analyzed. The new G603 model uses Hero and boasts impressive specifications: the maximum speed is 400 IPS, the resolution corresponds to 12,000 DPI, the mouse is based on a zero-smoothing principle (meaning that the data sent is not processed to eliminate noise, thus allowing for an increase in the amount of information output by the mouse), and Logitech claims a whopping 500 hours of non-stop gaming before needing to change the batteries! Impressive! From an aesthetic point of view, the design chosen is understated, yet at the same time very elegant and successful.
