Finally, after a long 35-minute wait, we managed to get our hands on a timed demo of Crackdown 3 running on PC. We were approached by one of the developers (Dave) who introduced us to the new gameplay features and a short tutorial video explaining the basic gameplay mechanics.<\/p>\n

\"\"The demo threw us onto the field in the game's new, vibrant city for 10 minutes. At first impression, the game feels very familiar to previously played titles. The demo allowed us to roam freely in a small section of the city where it was possible to collect power-up spheres to increase our agent's abilities. Additionally, it was possible to encounter various enemy factions scattered around to blow off steam in various melee or gunfights.<\/p>\n

There was no specific mission or objective to try, but simply to run around, shoot, and destroy everything in our path, a bit like what happened with the Crackdown 2 demo. Regarding character movement, a double jump has been added, executable by pressing the A button twice, and a forward mid-air sprint by pressing the left thumbstick. All of this makes vertical exploration between buildings easier, eliminating some of the frustration that previous titles could sometimes bring while exploring the world. Combat remains the classic hand-to-hand, with the ability to also use various blunt objects, thanks to good interactive physics where it's possible to pick up and throw most objects to inflict damage on enemies.<\/p>\n

Naturally, there must also be a variety of weapons such as assault rifles, pistols, shotguns, and even new types of special weapons, for example, cannons capable of firing black holes that suck in all surrounding objects\/characters\/machines, offering beautiful spectacular explosive effects. Effects that will not be lacking, as gradually gaining familiarity with the gameplay and agent upgrades leads to becoming a true war machine that sows panic and destruction. The demo mode, extracted from the Single Player version, did not boast significant physical destructive effects as seen previously in other game trailers; this will only occur in the multiplayer version, taking advantage of Microsoft's Azure Cloud's computational capabilities, which will allow for groundbreaking physics calculations.<\/p>\n

From what we've been able to test, the game falls short in introducing some freshness from different perspectives, such as graphics, animations, and gameplay, which is a bit lacking by current-generation standards. It certainly won't disappoint fans of the series, as the game contains the same formula as its predecessors, which if you liked them, you'll continue to like.<\/p>\n
