<\/p>\nOn the occasion of its 70th anniversary, the Locarno Festival celebrates the seventh art by launching #movieofmylife, a digital competition that aims to give audiences a voice, inviting them to talk about the films that have changed their lives the most.<\/p>\n

Today, images are no longer just seen, they are touched. Immersed in a multitude of screens and stimulated by constant viewing, the Locarno Festival wants to return to remember those images that have touched us so much that they have changed our lives, or made us see them with different eyes. #movieofmylife was born from the desire to share cinematic experiences, stories\u2014which are the reason we love cinema, some madly, some more rightly\u2014giving everyone a voice: audiences, film lovers, but also those who rarely go to the cinema, asking them to summarize in a snapshot the vision of the film that most struck us, transformed us, touched us. It could be because of its visionary power, or the beauty of its actors. Because it was the first or last in a long series. Because the emotion of that day coincided with that of the story being told. Or more prosaically, because the person sitting next to us captured our attention.<\/p>\n
It can be done in any language, with a simple smartphone or tablet, or by finding more original solutions. The video must be no longer than 70 seconds, and the only requirement is that the film's title be revealed only at the end.<\/p>\n
Among the first contributions were those of director Dario Argento, Locarno Festival Artistic Director Carlo Chatrian, Locarno Festival President Marco Solari, former Locarno Artistic Directors Marco M\u00fcller and Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Maire, and Swiss producer Tiziana Soudani, Honorary Prize winner at the 52nd Solothurn Film Festival.<\/p>\n
A specially created platform, www.movieofmylife.ch, will allow participants to upload their videos directly from their smartphone, tablet, or computer.<\/p>\n
The artistic direction, together with a team of programmers, will choose the winners of the prizes, which will be donated by Swisscom, Mobiliare, FLYER E-bikes, Swiss International Air Lines, SBB CFF FFS, Organizzazione Turistica Lago Maggiore e Valli, Swatch and MAC Cosmetics, and will designate a selection of films that will be presented in Piazza Grande during the 70th edition.<\/p>\n
#movieofmylife is part of a larger project focused on film criticism in the digital age, which will be complemented during the Festival by a roundtable discussion on video essays. The project was made possible thanks to the support of the Federal Office of Culture (FOC) and in collaboration with RSI and SSR SRG.<\/p>\n

The contest officially begins on March 21st and ends on August 11th, 2017.<\/p>\n
